New artistic pairs in Iranian cinema

In Iranian cinema, there are a good number of actors pairing off and acting out in movies and series together. In case you do not know them, though, here are some of the emerging duets in recent Iranian movies.

1. Elnaz Shakerdoust and Houtan Shakiba

Elnaz Shakerdoust and Houtan Shakiba are one of the newest artistic pairs who have had successful films in their joint artistic career in recent years.

The two actors played in the movie ‘When the Moon Was Full’ directed by Narges Abyar and produced by Mohammad-Hossein Ghasemi in 2018. The film was based on a true story.

‘When the Moon Was Full’ was screened at the 37th Fajr Film Festival, and Elnaz Shakerdoust and Houtan Shakiba won the awards for Best Actress and Best Actor, respectively.

The film "Ablaq" directed by Narges Abyar is the second joint experience of Elnaz Shakerdoust and Houtan Shakiba, which was screened at the 39th Fajr Film Festival in 2021.

Elnaz Shakerdoust and Houtan Shakiba once again co-starred in the movie ‘TT’ directed and produced by Aida Panahandeh in 2021.

Parinaz Izadyar and Navid Mohammadzadeh

Parinaz Izadyar and Navid Mohammadzadeh are the other emerging artistic couple in cinema working together in several movies.

The successful film ‘Life and a Day’ directed by Saeed Roustaei and produced by Saeed Malekan is the title of the first joint film of this acting pair in 2015. The two artists played siblings in the film.

Izadyar and Mohammadzadeh won the Best Actress and the Best Supporting Actor awards, respectively, at the 34th Fajr Film Festival.

The acting pair co-starred for the second time in the film ‘The Warden’ directed and written by Nima Javidi and produced by Majid Motalebi.

The movie ‘Just 6.5’ written and directed by Saeed Roustaei is the title of the third joint movie of Parinaz and Navid in 2019. Saeed Roustaei collaborated with Prinaz Izdiar and Navid Mohammadzadeh in this film for the second time.
